First or Follow?

March 27, 2006

It's all about responsibility. However personal one's blog is, a certain level of responsibility is expected when the number of people who read your blog is high.

Robert Scoble's contradicting posts [1] [2] is one such case, which proves that if one's ideas and views fluctuate over time and context, it is better not to be aggressive. Aggression is justified only when someone is absolutely sure of his policies or ideals. If I really do not believe in something, I just cannot use that as a base for my other theories or inferences. Agreed, at one point of time Scoble believed that being first (and not a follow) is what's important but now, when he changes his stance just to meet an occasion and then makes it his general view to more suit circumstances, it sure raises some questions about the amount of responsibility and sincerity Scoble associates to his blog.

I'm not going against Scoble at all. I'm a noob. A novice. An unknown. But its a general comment I would like to make here. A general tip. Do not just go aggressive against any idea/comment without knowing if indeed its false. You can write what you believe, it's your blog, but as I said, it all comes down to posting responsibly.

But in view of the situation, I must side with Scoble. My "responsibility" theory would have to be applied for the people who said those things about Microsoft Windows Vista too. Do they even realize what a big claim they are making with just a word from one Microsoft Partner in Australia. Even if this claim turns out to be partially true, it's quite a messup, frankly. That's how the world is. That's what makes it interesting.

Why WordPress and not MSN Spaces?

March 27, 2006

Why this topic at all? You ask.

It's simple. Being a Microsoft fanatic as I am, I would have used MSN Spaces if not for one small problem. I couldn't publish! Not a single post. Not through mail, not through the website. Considering Scoble uses WordPress too, I guess it isn't that much a sin. I would have waited for Spaces Live, but how much more time could I postpone this long due blog of mine? WordPress is no bad serivce. Just that I love Microsoft. In everything they do.
